Many people believe religion was taken out of schools by the SCOTUS decision, Engel v. Vitale (1962). However, that belief is incorrect. Religion remains in public schools! Students may practice their religious beliefs as long as they do not interrupt instruction or harass others to join them. Educators may also practice their religious beliefs with the added caveat that they not do so in front of children. The only thing that changed is that educators may not lead children in prayer. Attempts to promote one religion in public schools must be resisted.
